Do you ever find yourself trudging through your days, wishing for something more, something different? Do you wake up yearning for a change, longing to be someone else?Â
If so, you’re not alone. I’ve been there, too, caught in the cycle of discontent, grappling with feelings of inadequacy and yearning for a life I truly loved.
For months, it felt like I was merely going through the motions, struggling to find joy and excitement in my daily routine.Â
I couldn’t help but envy those seemingly confident and fulfilled women I saw around me – at the store, in traffic, or on TV. I longed to be like them, to possess their strength, vitality, and sense of self-worth. But deep down, I knew that I was capable of so much more.Â
I craved a renewed sense of purpose and a profound love for myself that transcended the need for external validation.
And then, amidst the haze of uncertainty and self-doubt, I stumbled upon a revelation: self-understanding is the cornerstone of transformation. It’s the key that unlocks the door to a life filled with purpose, joy, and unbridled enthusiasm.Â
In this blog post, I invite you to join me on a journey of self-understanding. This journey will empower you to embrace your authentic self and live a life you truly love.
Awareness of who we are is the #1 key to transforming how we feel about our lives and ourselves. It can take you from stuck to love—love for yourself and love for your life.Â
Once we take the time to get to know who we are, the real us. That is when we discover we are way more than we believe.Â
When you discover what you are amazing at, what you love to do, and what you should be doing in your life. When you discover what you have versus what you desire and what steps you need to achieve all you long for, you begin to live a life with excitement.
Would you like to wake up excited to be moving forward in your life?
How would you feel if you were doing things you were great at in your day and accomplishing those tasks laid out for you?
Chiefly, self-understanding is knowing and understanding your character, feelings, desires, and rationale.
Additionally, self-insight also illuminates who we are by allowing us to take time to get to know ourselves. We discover our gifts, what we are good at, and what we like.
Furthermore, it allows us to learn what we are not great at, dislike, and want to change.Â
Through personal reflection, you will discover:
Â
Consequently, insight into ourselves lets us know we are removing the lies we may be living with. It helps separate truth from what we have allowed ourselves to believe. It will enable us to remove labels that we have been living with.Â
Understanding ourselves helps us see the roadblocks that keep us stuck. We know the motivation behind our thoughts and actions.
When we gain self-knowledge, we gain a solid foundation to build our self-worth. Actual knowledge of who we are builds our confidence and allows us to make better decisions. Knowledge of ourselves helps us create a life we love.Â
Awareness of who we are helps us to know we are more than enough. We are beyond what the world around us says or shows us.Â
There is so much more to you than meets the eye. You may believe you are a 37-year-old married woman and a mom of two children. You run around taking care of those you love. Providing all of you with all they need and desire.Â
As accurate as that may be, you are so much more.
You’re more than:
You are more than someone who loves chocolate chip mint ice cream. You are more than the laundry washer, the meal preparer, or the chauffeur working pro bono.Â
The unique talents, fabulous gifts, and skills, plus your experiences, combine to make you a unique, one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Yes, someone else can cook, drive the kids around, and do the laundry, but no one can do what you do the way you do it.Â
The way you do you is as it should be.Â
How you look at the world, your opinions, experiences, and outlook are explicitly drawn by you and your life. The colors are original to you. So, whether it resembles a Van Gogh, a Bob Ross, or a Norman Rockwell painting, your life’s painting is an original work of yours.Â
From the moment you are born until this moment, your life experiences have created a story that has written a book of logic. Your book of logic. It has formulated your thoughts into what you use to understand the world.
Do you sometimes believe you are wrong and can’t do things correctly?
Does your logic tell you that you are not good at something?Â
Perhaps your logic tells you that older people are scary, that white panel vans are dangerous, or that all you are good at is laundry. They may seem like odd things to have a strong opinion about, but I promise you they are opinions that people have and believe with all their minds.
The problem with our personal logic is that our minds can sometimes create truths based on our experiences, not actual facts, just our created beliefs—beliefs that are pieced together through the twist of one experience after another.Â
Not all older people are scary. There are many amazing people over the age of 70 with great stories to share and a lifetime of love to give. Many are willing to use their experience to help another overcome a hurdle they, too, once experienced.
Not all white panel vans are full of people ready to jump out and snatch a person off the street to be sold for a few thousand dollars.
Just as you are not only good at laundry and able to get old grass stains out of silk, but you are much more than Mrs. Spot Clean.
Whether we want to admit it, we are all flawed in our thinking.Â
We need to admit that a false reality may exist if we want to move forward, gain confidence, know our self-worth, and achieve a life we are excited to live.Â
Once we take the first step of getting to know ourselves, we will see the light through our bricked-in boxes. Just as a glued-together broken vase allows the light in and provides a beautiful rainbow of color, truth creates a beautiful light.
There are many ways of starting the journey.
Especially, asking those who care about you what they see in you is a great way to see yourself through the eyes of those closest to you. What do they see you are great at and come to you for help? Are there common themes in things others have said about you?
What do you do with ease?
We often don’t know what our gifts are. Or what we are talented at because those things come so quickly to us that we think others are also good at them. We don’t see our own abilities because they are natural for us. So aren’t they for everyone?
Keep track of the moment you are enlightened, whether you discover you hate curry or are excellent at painting. We all carry our phones with us, so start keeping a note.Â
Getting to know ourselves, all of ourselves, is important.Â
Self-awareness reminds me of the story of the three little pigs.Â
Many of us build our lives with confidence that can be easily blown away with a bit of wind. Our self-esteem easily shatters when we go about our day doing things we aren’t great at. We don’t understand what is wrong with us.Â
We lose confidence in ourselves when we give ourselves tasks that don’t fall inside our wheelhouse.Â
When we build our house (life) with quality items and a solid foundation, we can withstand storms, whether the wind blows or the rain falls.Â
We can change homes, jobs, and appearances or start a new exercise plan, but those are not solid foundations on which to build our joy, worth, or future.
We must build a solid foundation to withstand the storms and avoid crumbling. Things may come and go, but they are always lingering, waiting to appear because we carry ourselves around with ourselves.
Without self-understanding, you will live a life
You will never know what you are capable of or what life will hold for you. You will not take the opportunities that present themselves because you will fear failure and doubt your capabilities.Â
Boost your self-esteem and become a confident woman.Â
Knowing yourself helps you reach your full potential or correct any path that doesn’t lead you to your desired life. Understanding yourself provides you with the opportunity to control your emotions, be less frustrated, and transform your life.Â
When you know what you are capable of, what you like, and what you desire.Â
When you begin a journey of transforming your life, you will gain confidence and begin to love yourself.
You need self-understanding to successfully fulfill your endeavors, whether personal growth, career success, or relationships.
Small steps add up to a life we love. The first step begins with self-understanding.Â
Moreover, once we begin getting to know ourselves better, we become aware of the world around us. Who we are, our actions and our choices become clear to us. With every step of this process, we make different choices and take different actions.Â
We don’t have to know every surface or profound truth about ourselves before seeing a transformation.Â
Every season, change, or opportunity sheds more light on who we are. We will never know all of ourselves, but we must be aware of who we are as a way of life.Â
Awareness, reflection, and truth transform who we are and the life we live. Imagine no longer being jealous of others or feeling inadequate or unworthy. Picture your day full of joy. Or a life that you love, one that leads you from goal to goal. What if you were loving yourself and your life?
The possibility is real, and it’s waiting for you! It is yours to achieve. The journey awaits your first step. Get to know yourself. Get to know all that you are capable of. Start today.
Imagine waking up each morning with renewed excitement, eager to embark on another day filled with possibility and potential.Â
Picture yourself effortlessly tackling challenges and achieving goals that align with your passions and aspirations. Self–understanding promises a life brimming with vitality, purpose, and unshakeable self-confidence.
If you aren’t living the life you want and aren’t the woman you dream of being, the good news is that you have untapped power and potential.Â
You have value beyond what you believe. You can be the woman you long to be, the woman you were meant to be.
When you take the time to get to know who you are, the real you, you will discover you are way more than you believe.Â
Undoubtedly, self-understanding is the starting point for you to begin living a life with excitement.
Therefore, are you ready to take the first step on this exhilarating journey of self-discovery?Â
Are you prepared to peel back the layers of doubt and uncertainty, revealing the radiant truth of your authentic self?Â
